Consultations Ophthalmology

Complete vision and eye health evaluation, with state-of-the-art equipment and precise diagnosis, for adults and children.

What is

A complete assessment, before problems arise

An ophthalmological consultation is a thorough examination of vision and eye structures. It allows for the early detection of refractive errors and eye conditions, often even before symptoms appear.

Regular check-ups are recommended even in the absence of symptoms, because many conditions develop slowly and without visible signs. Early diagnosis means simpler treatment and long-term vision protection.

Schedule a consultation if:

  • vision is blurred or visual acuity has decreased
  • you have frequent headaches or eye fatigue
  • eyes are red, dry, or tear excessively
  • see spots, floaters, or flashes of light
  • you have difficulty seeing up close or at a distance
  • you are over 40 years old, have diabetes or a history of eye disease

What we check

Areas assessed and investigations

Depending on the reason for presentation, the consultation may include a wide range of specialized investigations, performed with high-precision equipment.

Refractive errors

Myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism.

Investigations: visual acuity, autokeratorefractometry, fundus examination, biomicroscopy, corneal topography and pachymetry, corneal OCT.

Cataract and lens

Cataract and refractive lens surgery.

Investigations: visual acuity, biomicroscopy, keratometry, biometry, ocular ultrasound, endothelial cell count, retinoscopy.

Glaucoma

Measurement of intraocular pressure by several methods.

Investigations: tonometry (aplanation, non-contact, Corvis), biomicroscopy, computerized perimetry, optic nerve OCT, electrophysiology (ERG, PEV).

squint

Evaluation in children and adults.

Investigations: visual acuity, cover test, stereoscopy, measurement of strabismus angle with prisms, Hess Lancaster test, disamblyopization exercises.

Retinal diseases

Diseases of the retina and fundus of the eye.

Investigations: visual acuity, direct and indirect biomicroscopy, indirect ophthalmoscopy, ultrasound, angiography (AFG), OCT.

Corneal pathology

Diagnosis and monitoring of corneal diseases.

Investigations: visual acuity, autokeratorefractometry, corneal topography and pachymetry, corneal biomechanics (Corvis), corneal OCT.

How it goes

The consultation, step by step

1

anamnesis

We discuss the medical history, symptoms, and reason for presentation, in order to properly guide the examination.

2

Vision measurement

We determine visual acuity and perform autorefractometry to evaluate refractive errors.

3

Investigations

Depending on the case, we perform biomicroscopy, fundus examination, OCT and other special investigations.

4

Diagnosis and plan

We explain the results to you in clear language and together we determine recommendations or treatment.

Frequently asked questions

What should I do? you know

How long does an ophthalmological consultation last?

Generally between 20 and 45 minutes, depending on the investigations required. If additional examinations are performed or drops are administered to dilate the pupil, the consultation may take longer.

Do I need to make an appointment in advance?

Yes, we recommend making an appointment in advance, by phone or online, to reserve the right time for you and reduce waiting time.

How often should I have an eye check-up?

For adults without known problems, a check-up every 1 or 2 years is sufficient. After 40 years of age, in case of diabetes or eye diseases, an annual check-up is recommended. In children, early evaluation is important to detect vision problems.

Can I drive after the consultation?

If you are given drops to dilate your pupil, your vision may remain blurry for a few hours. In this case, we recommend that you come with someone or avoid driving immediately after the consultation.

What should I bring to the consultation?

The glasses or lenses used, relevant medical documents and, if available, the results of previous investigations. These help us track the evolution of your vision.
