Laser refractive surgery
Diopter correction by LASIK and PRK
Give up glasses and contact lenses with a modern, safe and short-term laser procedure for myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism.
What is
Corneal shaping with excimer laser
LASIK and PRK are refractive surgery procedures in which an excimer laser reshapes the surface of the cornea so that images focus correctly on the retina. The result is clear vision without the need for glasses or contact lenses.
The intervention is performed with local anesthesia through drops, on an outpatient basis, and takes only a few minutes for each eye.
What it corrects:
- myopia, blurred distance vision
- hyperopia, difficulty seeing up close
- astigmatism, distorted image at any distance
- dependence on glasses or contact lenses
Two techniques
LASIK and PRK
Both use the excimer laser. The difference lies in how the corneal surface is prepared. For a minimally invasive, flap-free alternative, see also ReLEx SMILE.
LASIK / Femto-LASIK
A very thin corneal flap is created (with a femtolaser in the case of Femto-LASIK), then the excimer laser shapes the cornea. The flap is repositioned, without sutures.
PRK
Flapless: The superficial layer of the cornea (epithelium) is removed and the excimer laser reshapes the surface. The epithelium regenerates within a few days.
How it goes
The intervention, step by step
Preoperative evaluation
We perform detailed measurements of the cornea and eye to determine the appropriate technique.
Local anesthesia
The eye is anesthetized with drops, so the procedure is painless.
Corneal shaping
The excimer laser reshapes the cornea in a few tens of seconds, with high precision.
Recovery
Protect your eye, use the prescribed drops, and return for scheduled checkups.
Eligibility
Are you a suitable candidate?
Not every eye is suitable for LASIK or PRK. Eligibility is determined through a complete preoperative evaluation, which includes corneal topography and pachymetry, to safely choose the best solution.
Following the evaluation, the doctor recommends the appropriate technique or, if necessary, a more suitable alternative for your eye.
You are a good candidate if:
- you are over 18 years old and your diopters have been stable for at least one year
- the cornea has the right thickness and shape
- you have no active eye conditions
- you are not pregnant or breastfeeding
- have realistic expectations about the outcome

Frequently asked questions
What should I do? you know
Does the procedure hurt?
The procedure is performed with eye drops and is painless. After PRK, there may be mild discomfort in the first few days, during the epithelial recovery period, which can be managed with the recommended treatment.
How long does the intervention last?
The laser procedure itself only takes a few minutes for each eye. Most of the time spent in the clinic is for preparation and post-operative evaluation.
When will I see clearly?
After LASIK, vision usually improves within 1 to 2 days. After PRK, vision recovery is gradual and stabilizes over several weeks.
LASIK or PRK, which is better for me?
It depends on the thickness and shape of the cornea, your diopters, and your lifestyle. The appropriate technique is determined following a preoperative evaluation with your doctor.
Is the result permanent?
The diopter correction is permanent. However, with age, natural vision changes, such as presbyopia, may occur, regardless of the laser intervention.
